Connecting PC to modem (Wired setup)

1. Ensure you have the following:

a.PC with Ethernet/LAN interface
b.Ethernet cable (normal unshielded twisted pair, not the cross-over type)
c.Exetel ISP login information (username and password)

2. Connect Modem to PC via Ethernet cable

3. Turn on modem until all lights are green.

4. Turn on PC. Ensure a green light appears for the LAN port that you connected on the modem.

5. Confirm connection to modem by logging into it (see section “Logging into the modem” below)


Connecting PC to modem (Wireless setup)

1. Ensure you have a PC which has a wireless device (e.g. 802.11b or 802.11g) that can connect to a Wireless access point/router.

2. Turn on modem until all lights are green

3. Turn on PC. Check if your wireless device on your PC can detect a wireless network (default name: RTA1025W).

4. Choose ‘connect’ to the wireless network

5. Confirm connection to modem by logging into it (see section “Logging into the modem” below)


Logging into the modem

1. Open your preferred web browser and type http://192.168.1.1 in the browser’s address bar.

2. You will be asked to enter a username and password. By default the username is “admin” and the password is “admin”.

3. If you login successfully, it means you are connected to the modem.


Connecting to the internet (wired/wireless setup)

1. Log into the modem (see section “Logging into the modem” above)

2. Your web browser page will look something like this:

Fill in the ”Broadband User Name” and “Password” fields as shown above. Make sure you type in the username and password provided by Exetel. E.g. for NSW users this would be <your 10 digit phone number>@ nsw.exetel.com.au as shown as an example above.

Click “connect” after typing in the Broadband user name and password.

3. If you connect successfully (takes up to 10seconds), the page will refresh to something like this:

4. You can now surf the internet. Do a quick test by loading a known website e.g. www.exetel.com.au or www.google.com

Finding out line speed/attenuation/noise

1. Log into the modem (see section “Logging into the modem” above)

2. Click on the icon at the top of the page

3. Click on “ADSL Line” in the menu on the left of the page

4. The main page will show your ADSL line information including line speed/attenuation/noise etc.

5. Click on “More Information” to get more details about your ADSL line.


Port forwarding

1. Log into the modem (see section “Logging into the modem” above)

2. Click on at the top of page.

3. Click on “Virtual Server” in the menu on the left of the page

4. Click on “Port Forwarding” in the sub-menu that appears on the left of the page. The main page will open a table of all your current port forwards:

5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click “Add”. A form appears for you to enter your port forward information.

6. Choose “User Defined”, give your port forward a name, e.g. see example in screenshot below:

7. Once all the information is filled in, click “Apply”. The port forward you added will appear on the port forwards table.

8. If you want to delete any of the port forwards in the table, check the “Delete” checkbox next to the one you want to delete and click “Delete” at the bottom of the page.
