Description

What is Naked ADSL2?

Naked ADSL2 is an ADSL2 connection and does not have an active phone line enabled to make calls. Simply it is a phone line that does not have voice facilities and provides only the internet service. Optus is the Exetel’s supplier for Naked ADSL 2.

ADSL1 vs ADSL2

What are the differences between ADSL1 and ADSL2?

Apart from the obvious difference in speed, there are some other significant differences between the ADSL1 and ADSL2. Please visit From ADSL1 to ADSL 2 - What to Expect for more information.

Optus Naked ADSL2 Speed

What speeds can be expected from Optus Naked ADSL2?

The speeds vary depending on the distance from the exchange, quality of the copper, the copper length and age of the copper line. All customers will not be able to get he maximum theoretical 24000/1100kbps ADSL2 line speed. Speeds should generally reach around 1200kbps as the minimum and up to 18000/1000kbps leaving for over heads.

What is my expected speed if I am currently located 3KMs away from the exchange?

Exetel is unable to guarantee any speeds, but your connection may get at least a speed of 1200kbps/256kbps.

Are P2P speeds guaranteed?

No, as this is a third party application Exetel holds no control over on what speeds you would be achieving.

Which service is faster, ADSL1 or ADSL2?

ADSL2 allows for a connection to achieve faster speeds, however there are limitations. For example if you are residing far away from the exchange this will make your speed slower. The only exception is that you should get at least 1200kbps/256kbps.

What are the factors avoiding the maximum ADSL2 speed?

  • Distant from the exchange
  • Quality of the copper
  • Electrical interference from other sources (electric motors, fences, air conditioning units, alarm systems)
  • Age of the copper line
