Login to the modem (default IP address is 192.168.1.254)

a) Open your preferred web browser and type http://192.168.1.254 in the browser’s address bar.

b) A username and password will appear for input. By default the username is “admin” and the password is “admin”.

Accessing Connection Setup

a) Once logged in, you will be on a Status Report Page. To the left side, there is a Navigation Panel. Click Quick Start to continue setting up your connection.

Setting Up The Connection

Information you will need:

Connection Encapsulation – PPPoE

VPI – 8

VCI – 35

Optional Settings

IP Address – 0.0.0.0

Subnet Mask – 0.0.0.0

PPP Username – Your Exetel Username and password are supplied in your welcome email.

Password – Your Exetel Username and password are supplied in your welcome email.

Applying Settings

Click the “Apply” Button at the bottom of the Quick Start page in order to use the settings you have just put in.

To ensure that these settings are retained on each restart of the modem, click the “Save Config” at the bottom of any page.

This will redirect you to a page which says – “Save Config to FLASH. Please confirm that you wish to save the configuration.” Click the “Apply” Button to store the information. Then if you want to confirm that this information is stored, restart your router.

Connecting to the Internet

Your modem should automatically synchronize and connect to the internet once the connection details have been put in and applied.

To check if your line has synchronized (wait at least 1 minute for it to synchronize), click on “Status” in the navigation panel then locate the WAN Section.

If the box says ‘xDSL line is not synchronized’ next to ‘PPPoE Connection’ (and you have waited at least a minute), ensure that your connection from the modem to the telephone line is setup correctly.

If the line is synchronized but the connection is not ‘established’, click the “Connect” button (this replaces the Disconnect button as seen in the picture).

Advanced Settings

(Must be Familiar with Navigation Panel)

Setting up a Static IP in your network (Internal (LAN) IP)

1. In the Navigation Panel, navigate to the DHCP Server Page by clicking:

Configuration to LAN to DHCP Server

2. Click on “Next” on the DHCP Server page to continue.

3. Take note of your starting and ending IP Addresses, then click Fixed Host to Continue

4. Inputs for the Static IP Setup

Name – Any name of your choosing

IP Address – Any IP Address of your choosing BUT it must be within the range of the starting and ending IP Address range*

MAC Address – The MAC Address of the chosen computer

Maximum Lease Time – 0

(If you do not already know the MAC Address for your PC, then click Status, then ARP Table. The table will give you your LAN IP address with a corresponding MAC Address).

  • If you make the mistake of setting an IP outside of the starting and ending IP Address range then you will either have to reset the modem (you will have to physically have to push a little button on the back of the modem) or you use another PC to reconfigure the settings.

5. Click Apply to save these settings, and if you want to retain these settings, save the configuration to flash.

Port Forwarding

1. In the Navigation Panel, navigate to the Virtual Server page by clicking: Configuration, then Virtual Server

2. Click “Add Virtual Server” to continue

3. Inputs for Setting up the Port Forwarding

Internal IP Address – the IP address of the computer you want to forward the ports to

4. Click “Apply” to create this port forwarding setting.

If you want to retain these settings repeat the procedure of ‘saving configuration to flash.
