What is Exetel's Free Web Hosting?

Free hosting is the free web space provided by Exetel for the customers who have signed up for the internet (ADSL, Fibre Broadband, Mobile Broadband) services. The maximum allocation of this free web space is 200MB. You can apply for the Free hosting service via the Member facilities area on the Exetel website and activate this service instantly.

Domain name is free and your Web Space Name will be displayed as a sub domain of Exetel web site (e.g.:home.exetel.com.au/helicopters)


How do I register for Free Hosting Service?

1. Go to eXeTeL web site. http://www.exetel.com.au

2. Log in to the Member Facilities area using your User name and the Password.

3. Go to "Manage Services" and click on Web/Blog setup.

4. Select Web Space Configuration option.

5. Click the Add Web Space button at the top of the page.

6. Fill the application and click the Add button.

7. An account will be generated and notification will be sent to your contact email address.


How to use my free web space?

  1. Go to http://filezilla-project.org/download.php?type=client
  2. Download FileZilla.
  3. Install this software and open it.
  4. Click the File option at the top of the window. Then select the Site Manager option.

  5. Click on the New Site button and type the name of your web site. (e.g.: home.exetel.com.au/helicopters)

  6. Fill the following fields:
    • Host – The Web host stores all the pages of your website and makes them available to computers connected to the Internet. This is similar to your web address. (e.g.: home.exetel.com.au)
    • Port – Port No is similar to Telephone No that you can be contacted by a certain number. When a computer has a port number you can make contact only with that computer. Port number is a way to identify a certain process to which the Internet or another kind of network message is being forwarded too when it reaches the server. Port numbers can vary and between 0 to 65535. (e.g.:21)


    Note:
    Make the Port as 21 if you are not sure.

    • Select the Server Type from the drop down menu. (e.g.: FTP, SFTP...etc)
      Give Server type as FTP.
    • Select the Logon Type from the drop down menu.
      Give Logon type as Normal.
    • User – This is the User name given by the eXeTel
    • Password – Give a password to maintain more secure login.
    • Comments – If you have any other information type them in here.


  7. Click the Connect button.

  8. FTP window will be displayed with the File tree structures for your PC and the Remote server.
  9. Drag and drop files from your PC directly to the Remote server.

Copyright Law

If there is any copyright material included in your web space that will be removed according to the copyright law. But you can still make a request to prove that the content is legitimate by sending an email to copyright-request@exetel.com.au as follows;

To: copyright-request@exetel.com.au

Subject: Please allow directory for media storage

I advise that I am the copyright owner, have permission of the copyright owner or that there is no copyright on the files I will place in the above directories, and therefore request they be exempt from automatic deletion.


What is the size limit/ capacity?

The free web space capacity is 200MB. You cannot increase this usage limit as it is a set limit of 200MB. If you wish to increase the size then you need to sign up for the Paid Hosting Service.

Email residentialsupport@exetel.com.au in order to move free hosted service to another ADSL account. eXeTeL does not assist with setting this facility up. This is required to be done by on your own as it is been supplied for you as a free service.


What are the Hosting Servers?

Our technology includes Apache 2.2.9 (Debian) + php 5.2.6 + mysql 5.0.51

Terms & Conditions

You can continue the use of Free Hosting Service by paying AU $ 45 six months subscription even after canceling the ADSL account and it takes nearly one month to remove the Free Web Space after canceling the ADSL account.
