Initial Setup

Assuming the modem is plugged in, turned on, and client computers are either connected via the WiFi or via Ethernet and clients are set to DHCP.

Determine the speedstream's IP address:

Click "Start", "Run" and type "cmd" and hit <Enter>

Now type "ipconfig" and hit <Enter>

Look for something along the lines of "Ethernet adapter Local Area Connection" (may differ for a wireless connection), the IP address (assuming all is connected correctly) will be under "Default Gateway"

Now that you have determined the IP address of your modem, open up a browser window (Internet Explorer, Firefox, etc) and enter the URL http://<ipaddress>/

For example:

If the modems IP address is 10.0.0.138 you would enter the url: http://10.0.0.138/

Once you are at the modem configuration page, if prompted enter the default username/password of "admin" for both, unless you have changed it previously.

Click "ISP Connection" on the left hand side under "Gateway Options". Here you will find your DSL sync rates and connection information. Ensure that the DSL Connection state is "UP", this means your modem has sync.

If your DSL Connection state is DOWN, please ensure you have correctly plugged in the device. Check to ensure the phone cable is plugged in, and not filtered. If this still fails, please perform an isolation test to determine if any other devices are causing conflict with the modem.

Above this you will see something that says "PPPoA(0) 8/35" (it may also say "PPPoE(x) 8/35", where x is a number) - Click this and it will take you to your authentication settings.

This will be red to indicate that the modem has not authenticated yet. If this is green, and it is displaying an IP address next to this, you are already connected!

This page will look something like this:

In the Username field, enter your Exetel username. This will be your full 10-digit phone number, followed by @<state>.exetel.com.au

For example: Your 10-digit phone number is 0298765432, You live in New South Wales:

Your username would be 0298765432@nsw.exetel.com.au

Now, enter your password in the Password field. This will be your full 10-digit phone number, followed by the first two letters of your street name in upper case.

For example:

Your street name is Stevenson Street, Your 10-digit phone number is 0298765432

Your password would be: 0298765432ST

You can leave the "Access Concentrator" and "Service Name" blank. Ensure "Auto-connect on Disconnect" is selected. And ensure "Use Idle Timeout" is unchecked.

Now click Save Settings

You will see a message stating: "The settings were successfully saved. You will need to disconnect and reconnect the connection to make the changes effective".

Click back to "ISP Connection" under "Gateway Options" If the modem has not already managed to authentication a connection, click the Connect button. It may also read Disconnect, in which case if a connection is not already established you will need to click Disconnect and then once the page loads again click Connect.

Once the modem has authenticated, it will display the following on the "ISP Connection" page:

Once you are at this stage, you can now attempt to test your connectivity using a client computer.

NOTE: You may need to disconnect/reconnect the client computers (or even reboot) to ensure they have established a connection to the modem and received all the DHCP settings needed for the connection.

You can first start by attempting to browse to the Exetel website. Open up a browser window (Internet Explorer/Firefox) and enter http://www.exetel.com.au/

If this works, then you have an active and functioning ADSL connection and modem!

Congratulations!
