Tests Requested by Exetel for ADSL2
Netstat test
For Windows computers:
- Click on START (bottom left hand corner on your screen) - Click on ‘Run’ - Type in ‘cmd’ - When a black MS-DOS black screen appears, type; netstat -a then press enter.
For a MAC computer:
- Click on the "Go" menu -> Utilities -> select "Network Utility". - On the Network Utility terminal, select the "Traceroute" tab and type in the website address - e.g. www.google.com that you wish to perform the trace route to.
Ping Test
For Windows computers:
- Click on ‘START’ (bottom left hand corner on your screen) - Click on ‘Run’ - Type in ‘cmd’ - When a black MS-DOS black screen appears, type; ping 220.233.0.3 (or any website e.g www.google.com) then press enter - Save the results, by cut and pasting into the body of an e-mail

- On the Network Utility terminal, select the "Ping" tab and type in the website address - e.g. www.google.com that you wish to perform the pings to. - Also enter in the number of pings you wish to perform, 20 pings should be an appropriate value for the purposes of this test.
